Jared Leto is celebrating his Oscar nomination with vegan pancakes.
The 42-year-old star is over the moon at receiving a Best Supporting Actor nod for his portrayal of HIV positive transsexual Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club, however, his somewhat unremarkable plans to celebrate include going back to bed because the nominations - which were revealed at 5:38am Californian time today - were announced so early in the morning.
"I'm going back to bed and then wake up and make vegan pancakes. I thought I didn't get the nomination because I woke up and [mistakenly] thought it was getting light outside. But then I got a knock on the door from Emma Ludbrook, who produced [documentary film] Artifact with me," the newly-minted Oscar nominee quipped to The Hollywood Reporter.
Jared, who won a Golden Globe award for his performance on Sunday, will be in good company at the Oscars as his co-star Matthew McConaughey is up for Best Actor for his portrayal of AIDS victim Ron Woodroof.

Jared Leto Uncertain of Oscar Success
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: FOCUS, Biopics, Drama, Period, Awards, Celebrity Gossip, New Releases,
Jared Leto doesn't believe "people like him" win Oscars.
The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman has been tipped for Academy Awards success for his role in Dallas Buyers Club - in which he plays a transsexual AIDS sufferer opposite Matthew McConaughey and Jennifer Garner - but he doesn't expect to receive one of the prestigious accolades.
"It's nuts. They don't give Oscars to people like me!" he said.
The movie marks the 41-year-old star's first acting role since 2009's Mr. Nobody and Jared joked he was amazed he could still act. "I hadn't made a film in so long, I'm lucky I remembered how to act, to tell you the truth. I just dove in deep and did that best that I could," he said.
Despite his modesty, Jared is proud of the movie and the Oscar buzz it has generated: "It's surreal. It's so great. I'll tell you what - anybody that has anything negative to say about the process needs to see a doctor. There are much worse things to do than have your film supported and celebrated."
Cinecast: Leto Gets Really Method, Schwartzman Cast in ‘Jurassic World’?

+ In order to really get a feel for his role as a trans woman in The Dallas Buyers Club, Jared Leto reportedly remained in character for the duration of production. In addition to meeting with people in the trans community, he waxed most of his body hair and learned to apply his own makeup. Perhaps his intense method will pay off in the end, as his performance has attracted some Oscar buzz already.
+ Four theaters in Sweden have applied and displayed the result of the Bechdel Test to their current screening films. Those that pass the test (achieved if the film features two female characters who talk about something other than a man) are screened on Sundays. It may not seem like a lot, but it's more than what we're doing here in the States for better female representation in film.
+ Rumors are going around that Jason Schwartzman is set to appear in the upcoming Jurassic World, which is a relaunch of the Jurassic Park franchise. Schwartzman's rep has yet to confirm (nor deny!) the claim.

Matthew McConaughey Doesn’t Want an Oscar
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: FOCUS, Biopics, Drama, Period, Awards, Celebrity Gossip, New Releases,
Matthew McConaughey isn't hoping to win an Oscar Award for Dallas Buyers Club.
The 43-year-old actor insists he didn't take on the role of real-life AIDS victim Ron Woodroof in the drama movie to be recognized at the Academy Awards but to tell an important story and broaden his career. Quizzed on rumors of a possible Best Actor nomination for his performance, he said, "There's nothing out there that I am chasing. I want my work to translate. Last year was an incredibly creative year of work for me. It was also the first year I lost money. How about that? Make sure you [write] that I'm saying that with a grin. I'm looking for great experiences."
The Hollywood hunk - who is married to Brazilian model Camila Alves - had to lose a significant amount of weight to play Woodroof and he did so with a combination of a controlled diet and self-control. "I lost 47 pounds. On the face of it, that's something. It did inform what I was able to do. There's the literal hunger but there's also this headstrong insatiability. The body is more resilient than we give it credit for. I was eating meals. I had controlled meals," he said.
Matthew McConaughey Opens up About Weight Loss

Matthew McConaughey admits he has a lot less energy since his dramatic weight loss.
The 43-year-old actor - who sparked concern after he recently dropped 38 pounds from his already lean frame for his role as an AIDS patient in the new movie The Dallas Buyer's Club - revealed his grueling diet has taken a toll and he can't wait to eat a cheeseburger.
"'Overall, [I've] probably got 35 percent less energy, but there's been plateaus. Getting past 170 was really hard, but then once you get [to] 167 the next seven come off easy. Got down to 143 and that's where I want to be. So, once you get past the plateau, your body seems to understand, 'OK, this is where we're leaving now, this is where we are' and so the energy rises. Your organs [and] muscles shrink, your organs shrink [and] my stomach has shrunk as well," he said.

Matthew McConaughey has officially joined the likes of Christian Bale and Matt Damon, having shed 30 pounds (from his already svelte frame) for his role as Ron Woodroof in the upcoming film The Dallas Buyers Club.
Recently spotted at LAX, the star's gaunt look frightened onlookers.
"For me, it's more of a mental thing than a physical thing. I'll get down to the weight I need to get to. I'm on the way, and it's what I need to do for the job... It's a bit of a spiritual cleanse, mental cleanse. [I'm] drinking a lot of tea," he told Larry King in a recent interview.
McConaughey's character in the film plays an AIDS-ridden patient who cures himself with alternative medications from Mexico. Based on a true story, The Dallas Buyers Club also stars Jennifer Garner, who plays his doctor, and Jared Leto, in his first film role in four years. Directed by Canadian filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée, the film is expected to be shot in New Orleans.
