"It was the month after the accident happened with my brother Paul Walker and it was the first time I had worked since. Although it was challenging, just to get back to work was therapeutic — especially as Groot. There was an innocence about the character that was just refreshing — and it may have been more challenging under other circumstances, but at that time, it was very therapeutic."
- Vin Diesel shares how voicing the role of Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy helped him get over the death of his friend and Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker.

While Parks and Rec fans noticed Chris Pratt's dramatic weight loss and temporary exit from the series to film Guardians of the Galaxy, little else has truly been known about the Disney/Marvel project - until now.
The studio released the first official promotional photo of the comic book adaptation (above) on the last day of 2013, as well as an official synopsis:
"An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot, a tree-like humanoid (voiced by Vin Diesel), the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance."

The four movies the 42-year-old star appeared in this year - Fast & Furious 6, G. I. Joe: Retaliation, Pain & Gain, and Snitch - banked a collective $1.3 billion at the global box office, putting him just ahead of second-placed Robert Downey Jr., who only released one movie in 2013, the highest-grossing production Iron Man 3, which took $1.2 billion.

Vin Diesel says Rita Ora "kicked butt" in Fast and Furious 6. The "Radioactive" hitmaker has a small cameo appearance in the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster - which was partly filmed in the singer's hometown of London - and producer-and-star Vin was convinced she was the perfect fit for the high octane movie after meeting her on a night out.
Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the movie's world premiere at the Empire Cinema in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday night, he explained: "I was out one night and was introduced to her. We were looking for someone to kick off the most quintessential race in the movie. We wanted somebody who represented today's London and have that presence to kick off a race of that style and she was just perfect and she was game to do it. We were lucky to get her and we were lucky that she came in and kicked butt."
Vin Diesel has entered negotiations to star in a fourth and fifth movies in the Chronicles of Riddick series.
The Fast and the Furious actor confirmed he has already held talks with Universal Pictures about reprising his role as anti-hero Richard B. Riddick in the sci-fi film franchise, and he is "excited" about the prospect of the series being extended.
"I think they are liking what they are seeing... haha, cause they asked when both Underverse and Furya would be ready to make and release... haha... now that's a ways in the future but it is exciting. (sic)" he wrote in a post on his Facebook page.
The 44-year-old actor recently wrapped on the third film in the franchise, The Chronicles of Riddick: Dead Man Stalking, and he revealed the movie is set to be released early next year despite previous plans for the movie to come out at the end of 2012.
Rihanna has landed a role in the sixth The Fast and the Furious film.
The singer - who recently saw her first movie part in Battleship, based on the popular boardgame - will play the villain in the film, which will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel.
"Rihanna impressed with her acting debut in Battleship. Writers think she will be perfect for the role. Her character has plenty of bite and doesn't take any prisoners - just like her in real life. It's a step up the ladder for her and could lead to bigger action roles," a source told The Sun.
The film will be set in London, meaning the "You Da One" hitmaker could be spending time in the British capital as soon as next month. Some scenes will also be shot in Essex while London is unavailable due to the 2012 Olympic Games.
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker will reunite for the fifth movie in The Fast and The Furious franchise, ensuring that this series will be dragged out for at least a couple more years.
