When he’s not searching for crystal skulls, running from large robots or flipping his own vehicle, Shia LaBeouf can clean up quite nicely.
In Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, Shia’s character (Jacob Moore) is a Wall Street trader engaged to Winnie Gekko (Carey Mulligan), the estranged daughter of Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). Jacob finds himself helping the recently-jailed Gekko repair his family situation in exchange for help with a hedge fund manager (Josh Brolin).
The film - also starring Frank Langella and Susan Sarandon - opens April 23.

Javier Bardem Leaves Wall Street Sequel

Javier Bardem has pulled out of starring in Wall Street 2.
The Oscar-winner had been lined up to play a hedge fund manager in the Oliver Stone-directed sequel - provisionally titled Money Never Sleeps - but has dropped out of the project due to other commitments. Although he “loves Oliver Stone,” Bardem’s rep claims the actor has had “five or six other offers.”
Michael Douglas, who won an Academy Award for his 1987 turn as Gordon Gekko, remains attached the film. Shia LaBeouf will co-star.
Javier is next scheduled to appear with Julia Roberts in Eat, Pray Love - an adaptation of the best-selling memoir.
Michael Moore Financial Documentary to Premiere This Fall
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Documentary, Political, Upcoming Releases
We might now know what the economy will be doing four months now, but there is one thing we can count on: Michael Moore commenting on it all.
It still doesn’t have a name, but it does now have a release date. Moore’s new documentary about the global financial crisis will premiere on October 2. Those keeping a close eye on the markets might realize the significance of that date. On October 1, 2008, the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street was approved.
A statement released by Moore gives us an idea of what we should expect. “The wealthy, at some point, decided they didn’t have enough wealth. They wanted more—a lot more. So they systematically set about to fleece the American people out of their hard-earned money. Now, why would they do this? That is what I seek to discover in this movie.”

The actor will be reteaming with his old Wall Street director (Oliver Stone) for the sequel set twenty years later. (The original actually premiered 22 years ago.) Gordon Gekko, fresh from prison, is now facing a new economy and aiming to train a new protege. (Shia LaBeouf is currently in talks for the trainee role.) Here’s the latest scoop on the sequel buzz spreading across Hollywood:
Hairspray: Earlier this summer, New Line announced plans to produce a Hairspray follow. Unfortunately, the studio - which has already asked John Waters to write a treatment - may have a major casting issue to deal with. In a recent interview with Australia’s Sunday Herald Sun, John Travolta said he wasn’t looking forward to putting Edna Turnblad’s fat suit back on. “I think once is enough. I did it and I did it well but I’m not a big sequel guy,” the Look Who’s Talking Too star claimed. No other stars from the original cast have yet been confirmed for the new musical.
