Olive Stone and Woody Harrelson Re-Team
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: MGM, Drama, Casting, Celeb News
When Woody Harrelson snagged the highly publicized role in Oliver Stone’s Natural Born Killers, Harrelson’s acting creds were hardly up to par. He’d appeared in a well-loved comedy TV series and a lighthearted basketball comedy, hardly roles that displayed his chops to play the murder-loving, law-breaking, hardcore killer that has now become a screen cultural icon. Stone said at the time that he saw murder in Harrelson’s eyes, a strange comment to make considering the actor’s father was serving a prison sentence.
Now, Stone is giving Harrelson another role in the gritty Vietnam War drama Pinkville. The United Artists flick will focus on the 1968 My Lai Massacre, where 500 people were killed by U.S. soldiers. Harrelson’s role is Col. Henderson, the officer leading the task force who committed the massacre. Pinkville won’t be Stone’s first foray into the Vietnam War, and he’ll direct a star-studded cast in the flick. Production is scheduled to start next year.

Owen Wilson on the Mend
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Rumors
Owen Wilson, who was hospitalized last week for a suicide attempt, is now back at home and resting. He’s also being closely watched. A source allegedly close to Wilson reports that the actor is thankful to be alive, though still in bad shape mentally. People are watching Wilson 24/7. Wilson stayed at Cedars-Sinai beginning August 26, after a call that he’d attempted to take his own life. During his stay in the hospital, Wilson was visited by brothers Andrew and Luke, and friends like Woody Harrelson. Wilson has already dropped out of one film project, Tropic Thunder, which would have reunited him with on-screen pal Ben Stiller.

The Preview Review: Special Coen Edition
Posted by Johnny Mercedes Categories: Action, Adaptation, Drama, Independent, Thrillers, Trailers, Upcoming Releases

Let’s be honest: The Coen Brothers have had a string of slightly innocuous endeavors beginning in 2003 with Intolerable Cruelty and following with 2004’s The Lady Killers. Beyond that, Joel and Ethan also made a small contribution to the 2006 cooperative film Paris, je t’aime, a movie asking directors to make five minute shorts about love. But we haven’t really seen the Coens in true form since 2001’s The Man Who Wasn’t There — a slow moving, but thrilling black-and-white piece starring Billy Bob Thornton.
That having been said, as I sat in a near-empty theater yesterday, charged with watching the new Herzog film Rescue Dawn, the trailer for No Country for Old Men ran, renewing my faith in those two brothers from Minnesota and the amazing stories they tell.
