Maybe the Minnesota weather is to blame for Renee Zellweger’s disheveled hair last night…
In her upcoming romantic comedy, Renee plays a consultant from Miami with a temporary assignment in the Midwest state. Of course, it’s always nice to have a warm body around when you’re cold. Thankfully for the Oscar winner, Harry Connick, Jr. is there to keep her company.
New in Town - also starring J.K. Simmons and Frances Conroy - opens January 20.

First Look: Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck in State of Play

In State of Play, Russell Crowe stars as an investigative reporter (Cal McCaffrey) who is tasked with covering the murder of a congressman’s mistress. Ben Affleck plays Stephen Collins, the U.S. Congressman who also has old ties to McCaffrey. The movie which once had Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in the two lead roles was directed by Kevin Macdonald (The Last King of Scotland).
Matthew Michael Carnahan (Lions for Lambs), Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton), Billy Ray (Breach) and Paul Abbott (the writer of the original BBC series) all share writing credits on the big-screen adaptation.
State of Play - also starring Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren and Jason Bateman - opens April 17, 2009.

First Look: Night at the Museum 2

The first trailer for Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian has surfaced on none other than the McDonald’s Happy Meal site.
The sequel to Night at the Museum, about bumbling security guard Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) who discovers that a museum’s displays and statues come to life after dark, follows the character as he attempts to rescue friends Jedediah (Owen Wilson) and Octavius (Steve Coogan) from the Smithsonian Institute. Despite my scathing review of the original film, in which I blasted the film for being an over-hyped, effect-laden, plot-deprived piece of garbage that not even a child could enjoy, every new movie deserves consideration, and it’s (rarely) possible for a sequel to surpass the original.
