Judi Dench and Benedict Cumberbatch

Judi Dench agreed to star in an adaptation of Richard III after a public plea from Benedict Cumberbatch over the weekend.

The veteran actress was taking part in a question and answer session at the Hay Festival in Powys, Wales when the Sherlock star - who will take on the title role in the BBC drama this autumn - jumped at the chance to pin her down to the project following lengthy rumors he was keen to have her on board to play Queen Margaret in the Shakespearean tale.

"Would you like to be in Richard III with me?" Benedict asked. After a lengthy pause, Judi replied, "Yeah." Apparently there was a rather good theatrical pause until she finally said, "Yeah."

Ethan HawkeEthan Hawke will play Macbeth on Broadway.

The 42-year-old actor has been confirmed as taking the leading role in the Shakespeare tragedy. The female lead playing Lady Macbeth has yet to be confirmed.

Ethan will reunite with director Jack O'Brien at Lincoln Center Theater, where he has previously starred productions of The Coast of Utopia - earning him a Tony nomination in 2007 - and Henry IV. Ethan is also currently riding high as the star of The Purge - which topped the box office last weekend - as well as playing the lead in highly anticipated romantic drama Before Midnight, the sequel to Before Sunrise and Before Sunset.

The actor recently admitted he often questions his stardom and feels "guilty" as he thinks he deserves the attention he receives from fans. "You know in your heart of hearts that you're special only like every human being is special, so you don't know why you're getting all this attention and you feel guilty about it. What you feel guilty about is the feeling that some part of you thinks you deserve it 'cos it feels good. And it's a weird snake that's eating it's own tail."

Shakespeare a Fake? New Film Addresses Legendary Rumors

William ShakespeareScholars have long debated the authorship of Shakespeare’s many great plays. He is known as England’s national poet and is often held up as the greatest of all playwrites… but, was he a phony?

The Oxfordian theory proposes that Edward de Vere, Earl of Oxford, actually wrote the works which have long been attributed to Shakespeare -- an idea that’s explored in the new movie Anonymous. The film version will be stuffed with historical intrigue and illicit materials -- the earl has a tryst with Queen Elizabeth herself in the flick.

Rhys Ifans will star as Oxford. The actor will also take a turn in the new Spider-Man reboot as The Lizard.
