+ Seth Green - whom you may recall from Robot Chicken, Family Guy, and Austin Powers - gives Larry King a compelling explanation as to why Ben Affleck is a poor choice as Batman in the upcoming Batman Vs. Superman film.
+ Bette Midler is set to appear at this Oscars this year - additionally, she'll be singing for the first time!
+ Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller is in talks with Warner Bros. and Barry Sonnenfeld to adapt the short-lived (and much-loved!) ABC series into a musical for Broadway, which would star Pushing Daisies alum Kristin Chenoweth. Fuller says that he is also contemplating a film adaptation.
+ Michael Patrick King, who wrote for the Sex and the City series and directed both film adaptations, says that there's one more story to tell for Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha - greatly hinting at the possibility of a third film.

Disney gave us the first look of Guardians of the Galaxy on New Year's Day, and now they've released the first official full-length trailer for their latest Marvel adaptation, which offers up audiences a closer look at the cast of ecclectic characters.

While Parks and Rec fans noticed Chris Pratt's dramatic weight loss and temporary exit from the series to film Guardians of the Galaxy, little else has truly been known about the Disney/Marvel project - until now.
The studio released the first official promotional photo of the comic book adaptation (above) on the last day of 2013, as well as an official synopsis:
"An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill (Pratt) finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan (Lee Pace), a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits–Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper), Groot, a tree-like humanoid (voiced by Vin Diesel), the deadly and enigmatic Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista). But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand - with the galaxy’s fate in the balance."

Box Office Breakdown: Tyler Perry Produces Another Hit

This past Easter weekend, Tyler Perry proved once again that he has the Midas touch. Although his latest venture, Meet the Browns, only came in second, the film bested Horton Hears a Who! with its per screen take. Perry’s film averaged $10,011 per theater—thousands better than Horton‘s performance ($6208). The latter movie was also showing in twice as many locations.
But the Dr. Seuss adaptation wasn’t the only film to snare a prize away from the writer/actor/director. Under the Same Moon - a small feature from The Weinstein Company - entered the Top Ten with an impressive $10,414 average. While Browns was being shown on 2006 screens, Moon was showing on only 266. The movie, co-starring America Ferrera, wound up being the top domestic scorer ever for a Spanish-languaged film.
In other chart news, Owen Wilson’s Drillbit Taylor debuted at #4 while another Asian horror remake, Shutter, took in $10.5 million for a third place finish. Films booted out of this week’s Top Ten were Semi-Pro, Doomsday, The Other Boleyn Girl and The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Box Office Breakdown: Horton Hears a Who Has Largest 2008 Debut

Thankfully, Jim Carrey‘s embarrassing stint on American Idol wasn’t all in vain.
Horton Hears a Who earned $45 million dollars over the past weekend, trouncing the competition. Although the kid-friendly flick has had the biggest opening of 2008 so far, the film falls in the middle of the pack when it comes to Dr. Seuss adaptations. How The Grinch Stole Christmas opened with $55 million back in 2000; A Cat in the Hat took in $38.3 just three years later.
Horton‘s premiere also made a nice statement for non-Pixar related films overall. This animated movie found itself in fifth place behind other cartoon debuts. (Disney’s Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., Cars and Ratatouille rank one through four.)
The only other new entries in this week’s Top Ten were the mixed-martial arts pic Never Back Down and the post-apocalyptic thriller Doomsday.
