Lindsay Lohan Offered Movie Role as Sharon Tate

Lindsay Lohan Sharon Tate

Actually, we love this. Lindsay Lohan clearly isn’t doing much, career-wise, right now. The actress was replaced on the Linda Lovelace movie because of ongoing rehab and court issues, but it seems a very meaty role is now in the offing: Sharon Tate, famous Manson victim.

Eyes of a Dreamer tells the story of Charles Manson, to which Sharon Tate is inextricably linked. Tate, an actress herself, was killed while pregnant in August of 1969 by the Manson clan. Her murder is one of the most well-documented and notorious in US history.

X-Men - Hugh Jackman as WolverineAt least one big screen comic book adaptation is still thriving, no reboots needed. Disney Sued for Ripping Off Cars Script, Sequel Delayed?

Cars

Jake Mandeville-Anthony, U.K. screenwriter, has just filed an injunction to stop the June 24 release of the highly-anticipated Disney/Pixar sequel, Cars 2. His claim? The uber-company ripped off his script -- Cars was his idea in the first place.

Mandeville-Anthony says he originally submitted a script in the 90s, a three-part screenplay named “Cookie & Co.” and another piece titled “Cars.” His “Cars” contained a sample screenplay, animated car character descriptions, character sketches… even a marketing and merchandising plan. The writer alleges that he submitted his work to Disney and met with Lucasfilm exec Jim Morris in 1993. Morris would go on to join Pixar in 2005. He is now the company’s general manager.

Another American Pie Movie in the Oven

American Pie movie poster

But maybe this time, it’ll have more plot than Naked Mile. The American Pie franchise is still chugging along, but hopefully the next sequel won’t follow the ill-fated Beta House route.

The aptly-named American Reunion plans to reunite the cast from the very first (and incredibly successful) American Pie movie. Jason Biggs, Eugene Levy and Sean William Scott are all on board with the project (though, considering Scott’s recent move to rehab his fate is now up in the air). Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Mena Suvari, Alyson Hannigan and Jennifer Coolidge are all in talks with Universal about their proposed participation in the film.

Filming is slated to begin in May.

Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Adaptation, Remakes, Casting, Celeb News

Barbra StreisandBarbra Streisand will no longer be playing Rose in the planned Gypsy film remake -- the movie’s no longer getting made.

Arthur Laurents, who wrote the book that inspired the original 1959 Broadway musical, has withdrawn rights permission for the film. He maintains that Barbra Streisand had nothing to do with his decision, but he never liked the 1962 film version of the story in the first place.

Streisand’s rep hasn’t commented on the sudden change in plans.

Jennifer Aniston Going the Gwyneth Paltrow Route

Jennifer Aniston to sing in her next film?We didn’t forget about Jennifer Aniston’s movie project The Goree Girls, though we’ve received no word on it for two years, and it turns out the actress hasn’t forgotten, either. Aniston is still planning on starring in the film that will depict her as a country-western singer. A similar role landed Gwyneth Paltrow tons of attention, so why not Aniston?

Few things about the project are certain (like whether or not Jen will sing in it), but we do know it revolves around the real-life 1940s singing group The Goree Girls, who came together while incarcerated in a Texas prison. We also know that Kelly Rowland is co-starring, so chances that somebody's going to sing are pretty good.

Arrested Development Movie Script Coming Soon

Jason BatemanJason Bateman could hardly contain his excitement when reporters grabbed in at the Paul red carpet this week. “It’s incredible,” he said of the upcoming Arrested Development movie.

Bateman hasn’t yet seen the script that’s been partially penned by Mitch Hurwitz, but he has been in talks about the story that will unfold on film. The actor says that “odds of [Hurwitz] getting it done before the end of the year… are good.”

“We are embarrassed,” he admitted, because it has taken so long for an Arrested Development movie to come to fruition. But, things are happening, and this should bolster fans of the show.

The series ran on FOX for three seasons, from 2003 to 2006.
