The Footloose star is reportedly in negotiations with studio Twentieth Century Fox to play the chief villain in the forthcoming prequel, though no details about the exact nature of the character have been disclosed.
Kevin, who has an 18-year-old daughter Sosie and a 20-year-old son Travis with his actress wife Kyra Sedgwick, is the latest star to be linked to the project. The Matthew Vaughn-directed movie will follow the early friendship of Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr as they struggle with their mutant abilities and set up a school for gifted youngsters.
British actor James McAvoy has signed up to play Professor Charles Xavier - the role played by Sir Patrick Stewart in the first three movies - while 33-year-old actor Michael Fassbender will portray Erik Lensherr, otherwise known as Magneto and originally played by Sir Ian McKellen. The movie will also feature actors Nicholas Hoult (Beast), Caleb Landry Jones (Banshee), Alice Eve (Emma Frost) and Lucas Till (Havoc). The film is expected to begin shooting next month.

Julie Christie: The Away from Her star and Gary Oldman are both in talks to join The Girl With the Red Riding Hood, a “gothic” adaptation of the classic tale. Amanda Seyfried has already been cast in the Catherine Hardwicke-directed film as the woman who is terrorized by a werewolf in a medieval village. Christie would play Seyfried’s grandmother while Oldman hunts down the animal. Max Irons and Shiloh Fernandez will co-star.

Chace Crawford set to play Ren McCormack in Footloose remake

Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Paramount, Musicals, Remakes, Casting, Rumors, Upcoming Releases,
Chace Crawford has landed the lead role of Footloose, grabbing the spot that Zac Efron turned down. Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Chace, a Gossip Girl star, has signed on to play Ren McCormack (originally played by Kevin Bacon) in the forthcoming musical remake, following weeks of speculation. As we noted, Zac Efron originally had the part, but turned it down because he didn’t want to be permanently typecast as someone who could only act in musicals. No other casting info has been officially announced, but rumor has it that Miley Cyrus is in the running to land the female lead of Ariel Moore, originally played by Lori Singer. Amanda Bynes and Hayden Panettiere have also auditioned for the lead female spot. Footloose is scheduled to hit theaters in July 2010.
Preview of New York, I Love You

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Drama, Romance, Trailers, Upcoming Releases,

Last year, I had the pleasure of watching Paris, je t’aime (“Paris, I Love You”), a wonderful collaboration of work from 21 international directors. The movie was comprised of 18 separate short stories; each tale using a different district of Paris as its backdrop. While the city was not always front and center, it’s character was always felt.
Now one of Paris’ producers will be giving NYC its share of the spotlight. (As if Sex and the City didn’t already do that.) Next spring, a large ensemble of actors - including Kevin Bacon, Ethan Hawke, Rachel Bilson, Orlando Bloom and Natalie Portman (also in Paris) - will be sprinkled over New York, I Love You‘s 12 short stories. The segments will be told from the city’s 5 different boroughs.
Catch a preview of the new movie after the jump.
