Johnny Depp Hiring Homeless as Extras

Johnny DeppJohnny Depp has been hiring homeless people to play extras in his latest movie.

The 49-year-old actor convinced the casting director of his forthcoming sci-fi thriller Transcendence - which sees him star opposite Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Hall - to employ two people living on the streets after he spotted them while out and about in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

"Johnny always likes to help out the community when on location. While scouting out the area around Albuquerque, he came across these two characters. He was straight on the phone to the casting director," a source said.

It is not the first time Johnny has helped out people living on the streets after he bought a hat from a homeless person in 2011 to add to his vast collection of headgear. However, Vanessa Paradis - the Pirates of the Caribbean star's partner at the time although they split last June after 14 years together - was said to be furious at the Hollywood actor for purchasing so many hats. "Vanessa was livid and told him the hats had to go or she would trash them. But he's way too fond of them, so he'll move the bulk of the collection to one of their other homes," a source said at the time.

Cinecast: New ‘Man of Steel’ Trailer, Kate Hudson Cast in Zach Braff Film

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake+ Even though people are still recovering from throwing their money at Star Trek Into Darkness this weekend and Iron Man 3 the two weekends before that, Warner Bros. wanted to remind them that they still ought to spend even more of it on Man of Steel, which comes out next month. Hence, the new trailer.

+ Justin Timberlake has proven to everyone each time he's showed up to the Cannes Film Festival that he's not only one of the most talented musicians, dancers, and actors around today, but that he dresses better than anyone else. No, really.

+ Now that Mandy Patinkin has signed on to star in Zach Braff's Kickstarter-funded film, stars like Kate Hudson and Anna Kendrick are taking note and jumping on the bandwagon.

+ Since it feels like years since we last heard about the film adaptation of Ender's Game, the marketing team behind the project decided to throw fans a bone by releasing a new promo poster featuring Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield (who strangely resembles Elijah Wood in it at first glance).

Tom Cruise Offers Private Jet to Injured Set Worker

Tom CruiseTom Cruise offered a private jet to a worker who was injured on the set of his latest film.

The actor was shooting new movie Oblivion last month when British crew worker, known only as David, was crushed by a 700-pound weight. David was left unconscious and initially believed to be paralyzed, so caring Tom alerted his private pilot who primed the star's jet to transport David to a specialist spinal injury clinic.

"Tom stayed cool and swept straight into action. He didn't take a back seat at all and made sure his Gulfstream V jet was ready to go in case it was needed. It was quick thinking. David could have suffered permanent spinal injury, so it might have been vital he was flown to hospital," a source said.
