New ‘Man of Steel’ Poster Sees Superman in Handcuffs

Man of Steel

Just weeks away from Man of Steel's official trailer unveiling (set to screen prior to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey in theaters and online), Warner Bros. has revealed a new poster for the upcoming Superman film.

The poster sees the latest Superman, Henry Cavill, in handcuffs among what looks to be military personnel. Will it be a case of a frame job or the superhero ruffling the feathers of someone with great authority? We'll just have to wait and see when the Zack Snyder-directed film hits theaters on June 14.

David Hasselhoff Could Have Been Indiana Jones, Superman

David HasselhoffDavid Hasselhoff was considered for the role of Indiana Jones.

The former Baywatch star claims he narrowly missed out on one of the most coveted parts in Hollywood history, but he isn't bitter that Harrison Ford got to play the daredevil archaeologist because he accepts that life has its ups and downs: "I'm the guy who was up for everything: James Bond and Superman. I met with Spielberg for Indiana Jones. I tell the kids that life isn't fair. Don't assume that somebody is really your friend or that you're going to do another year of Britain's Got Talent. Once you assume that, s**t happens, it's really f***ing easy to move on."

David, 60, has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and was honored when "Baby" singer Justin Bieber said he wanted to wear a T-shirt with his name on it to an awards show. "He wanted to wear a T-shirt that said 'I'm with The Hoff' at the MTV Awards. Can you believe that? I got Bieber fever ... it means I'm current with the kids. It means I'm hip," he told The Daily Telegraph.

General Zod named as next Superman Villain

Michael ShannonGeneral Zod DC Comics

The Superman reboot officially has a name and a villain. Michael Shannon (of Boardwalk Empire fame) has signed on to play General Zod in Man of Steel.

As Zod, Michael Shannon will square off against Henry Cavill as Superman. Amy Adams will play Lois Lane, Kevin Costner Jonathan Kent and Diane Lane will portray Martha Kent.

Super! Amy Adams is Lois Lane

Amy Adams

Amy Adams is going to make a super-cute Lois Lane in the Superman reboot, even if she has to dye her trademark red locks. Director Zack Snyder says the actress is “perfect” for the role (the Golden Globe nomination sure didn't hurt her in the audition room). He picked Adams after a lengthy search, because every superhero needs a leading lady.

Adams will be playing the career-minded love interest to Clark Kent/Superman Henry Cavill. Supporting cast includes Kevin Costner, who will play dad Jonathan Kent and Diana Lane as mom Martha Kent.

Kevin Costner Signing on to Superman Cast?

Kevin CostnerKevin Costner is talking with producers about taking on a “key role” in the upcoming Superman movie. Henry Cavill (The Tudors) has already been cast as the main man in blue and red, and now he’ll need a supporting cast.

But, which role will Kevin Costner play? Will the new reboot feature a considerably older Lex Luthor character, as did the last reboot? Or will Costner play a good guy, maybe Daily Planet editor Perry White or Clark Kent’s dad Jonathon Kent? Perhaps this reboot features newer Superman characters, like police commissioner Henderson maybe?

Christopher Nolan Inspired by Classic Superman Film

Director is seeking inspiration from the 1978 Superman film.

Nolan, who is producing the upcoming Superman remake alongside his brother Jonah Nolan and David S. Goyer, revealed he aspires to achieve the same success as filmmaker Richard Donner did in the very first adaptation of the comic book story.

“I was hugely struck by the Donner films in the ‘70s when I was a kid. In 1978 I saw Superman and it had such an epic scope to it. It took on this incredible, iconic figure and gave that iconic figure an appropriate framing. It made quite an impression on me. It’s definitely one of my childhood touchstones on what epic cinema can be.”
