Baking Buff Rumer Willis

Rumer Willis and mother Demi MooreNewly turned 21-year-old Rumer Willis would much rather bide her time making pies than doing the Hollywood scene.

The Sorority Row actress, who is the daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, can’t resist her cravings for sugary baked goods, so she spends her free time in the kitchen.

“I just don’t care about fame. I have better things to do—like making pies. I love making pies. It all started when I went on a road trip with my boyfriend. We stopped off at this diner and had this strawberry and rhubarb pie, and I thought, ‘This is incredible. I’m going to learn how to make it.’ So I did.”

Rumer is so accomplished at baking, she even treats Demi and her stepfather Ashton Kutcher to their favorite pies.

“My mom likes either pecan pie or German chocolate, and I just made a coconut banana cream pie for Ashton. He liked that very much. It was gone in a matter of three days.”

Anne HathawayNick Nolte

Here’s a quick look at some of the casting announcements made recently:

Anne Hathaway: The actress, who will soon be competing against Kate Hudson in Bride Wars, will reverse direction in The Opposite of Love. In the 20th Century Fox production, Anne will play a commitment-phobic woman who must deal with a marriage-minded boyfriend. Opposite is an adaptation of Julie Buxbaum’s best-selling book. Hathaway’s next film, Rachel Getting Married, opens in limited release on Oct. 3.

Demi Moore’s Directorial Debut Stays Behind Closed Doors

Glamour's keeping quiet about Demi's directorial debutIt appears as if Demi Moore‘s latest project has gravitated her behind the camera, placing her alongside starlets-turned-directors like Natalie Portman, Courtney Cox, and Gwyneth Paltrow.

Although the folks over at Glamour magazine are guarding the short film like hawks, Brittany Snow has leaked a few notes about her director:

“She’s so grounded and normal and a really, really talented director. When it comes to this crazy town and industry, she has a very good handle on who she is…She wore jeans and a T-shirt every day and no makeup. She was just so cool.”

The film, which is part of Glamour‘s Reel Moments Series, is slated to premiere this October. Kirsten Dunst, Kate Hudson, and Rita Wilson are among the many actresses who have participated in the past.

Here are some possible suggestions for your upcoming weekend:

This Week on HD DVD and Blu-ray: October 23, 2007

The Shining Blu-rayWhether you’ve made the choice and actually picked a side in this format war, one thing can be agreed upon by all sides—this is a good week for high-definition.

It so happens that Warner Home Entertainment has yet to pick a side in this battle of video/audio quality—a decision that, when the time comes, could end the war for good. For now, however, they are throwing down some pretty good releases to please everyone, and this week is no exception.

The late Stanley Kubrick, idiosyncratic director of some of America’s most cherished cinema, is honored this week with the release of a few classics in dual format—finally, we can all see Jack Torrance’s nose hairs as he axes the hotel door and screams his classic “Here’s Johnny!” After all, Halloween is quick approaching, and a high-def copy of The Shining might make the perfect late-night creepfest. And if horror is your bag, both formats have some decent titles this week. Check the full list after the jump.

Box Office Breakdown:  Silver Surfer Scores the Gold

Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories:

Silver Surfer

Like Ocean’s Thirteen, critics rated Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer better than its predecessor.  And like Ocean’s, Fantastic found its way on top of the ever-revolving box office heap.  With help from a more family-friendly rating (down from PG-13 to a PG), the superhero clan raked in $2 million more in its opening weekend than its 2005 turnout.

But it takes more than just a PG to win viewers over—it apparently takes Jessica Alba in a skin-tight outfit…and the prim and proper Nancy Drew had to learn that the hard way.  The latest incarnation of the beloved character only placed 7th despite the numerous times Julia Roberts’ name had been dropped these past few weeks.  BTW—I feel incredibly bad that daddy Eric Roberts has been continuously trumped by his more famous sister.  Emma is HIS daughter after all.
