New Trailer for Brothers Released
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Lionsgate, Action, Drama, Thrillers, Celeb News, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
While the first trailer for Jim Sheridan’s Brothers may have made the film look like a dramatic Lifetime story, this new trailer ups the emphasis on its thriller aspect. Perhaps they should have released the film before the remake of The Stepfather as soon as they knew that they were headed in this direction.
Although very few new scenes have been added, the trailer does a great job at making Tobey Maguire look as creepy as ever.
Natalie Portman may not be too pleased with her Star Wars performance, so I’m rather puzzled as to why she chose this role and whether or not she’ll be saying the same thing regarding this movie in due time.
Either way, you can catch the film when it hits theaters on December 4th.

New Sherlock Holmes Trailer Unveiled
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Warner Bros, Action, Adventure, Classics, Family, Mystery, Comedy, Thrillers, Celeb News, Celebrity Gossip, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
If you’re pretending to be British and celebrating Guy Fawkes Day, you might as well keep up the charade by checking out the new trailer for Sherlock Holmes, starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law.
In what can only seem to be complete bad-ass-ness (smart jokes, narrated three-step guide to knocking someone out, Rachel McAdams, etc.), the film appears to have a good chance at holding its own during this Christmas Day’s battlefield for the box office.
What secret weapon does director Guy Ritchie have in store for the action-packed thriller? He calls it a family movie!

First Look: Angelina Jolie in Salt
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Columbia Pictures, Sony, Action, Thrillers, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
In this new trailer for Salt, Angelina Jolie rocks heels, climbs walls and wields guns. In other words, it’s your typical day for the mother of six.
The film, which was originally set to star Tom Cruise, tells the story of a CIA agent who may or may not be a Russian spy. While the story reminds me a great deal of Kevin Costner’s No Way Out, the visuals are more in line with Jolie’s Wanted.
Salt - also starring Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor - opens July 23.

First Look: Prince of Persia Trailer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Disney, Action, Adaptation, Adventure, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
When a movie combines The Mummy, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings, it’s bound to be a hit. And in this case, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time also has a beefed up Jake Gyllenhaal and a Bond girl (Gemma Arteron) to boot.
So will this trailer get you in the doors? Doesn’t matter—I’m sure Disney’s already got a new theme park ride in the works.
Prince of Persia opens on May 28.

Watch the New Full-Length Avatar Trailer
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: 20th Century Fox, Action, Adventure, Science Fiction, Thrillers, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
How would you like to see your Avatar? If you’d choose a trailer with very little talk and a focus on the fantasy, please refer to the teaser version released in August. If you’d prefer yours laced with more drama, humans and expository info, than this version might be up your alley.
Although IMAX tickets for the James Cameron film went on sale two months ago, the movie has been overshadowed lately by talk of vampires, Michael Jackson and paranormal activity. This latest clip could get us talking about Pandora and humanoid creatures called the Na’vi again.
Avatar - starring Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Zoe Saldana Michelle Rodriguez and Giovanni Ribisi - opens December 18.

New Shutter Island Trailer Hits Internet
Posted by Kathleen Kane Categories: Paramount, Horror, Period, Science Fiction, Thrillers, Distribution, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Although movie-goers should have seen Shutter Island a few weeks ago, Paramount seems to be making up for the delay by debuting a third trailer for Martin Scorcese’s latest thriller.
Is it just me, or do these trailers get creepier with each release? I swear that the body count has drastically increased with each trailer!
Creepiness aside, you can catch the entire film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, on February 19.

First Look: Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfriend in Dear John
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Sony, Adaptation, Drama, Romance, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Dear John -
While you were gone serving our country, I was busy filming this box office bomb called Jennifer’s Body. Who knew a lesbian kiss with Megan Fox wouldn’t sell?
Anyway, I have a feeling our upcoming movie will do a thousand times better. I mean—who isn’t a sucker for Nicholas Sparks adaptations? And all women love a good cry around Valentine’s Day…especially when a hunk like you is involved.
So do your best to hurry home. Until then, I’ll continue sending you as many letters as a I can.
XOXO,
Savannah
Dear John - starring Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum - opens in theaters on February 5.

“I’m the guy with nothing to lose.” When a man already facing a pricey divorce battle tells you that, you better watch out.
In Edge of Darkness, Mel Gibson plays a Boston detective who tries to uncover the conspiracy behind his daughter’s murder. The film, which was directed by Casino Royale‘s Martin Campbell, is Gibson’s first major role since 2002’s Signs.
The Warner Bros. thriller will open on January 29, 2010.

Toy Story Gets Extended 3D Run
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Disney, Animation, Family, Sequels, Box Office, Upcoming Releases, Videos
If your film is still charting in fifth place, why pull the plug now?
Although it was originally slated for a two-week stint, the Toy Story/Toy Story 2 double feature has been given a longer stay. The popular 3D reissuing will now have an indefinite run. (It will most likely be pulled before A Christmas Carol opens on November 6.)
Since being re-released on October 2, the Pixar classics have combined forces for approximately $22.8 million in ticket sales.
Those still unable to relive the experience before it leaves theaters can get their sneak peek of Toy Story 3 above.

VIDEO: 2010 Minus the Special Effects
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Columbia Pictures, Action, Drama, Science Fiction, Trailers, Upcoming Releases
Cheesy special effects. The reason some of you are eager to see 2012, and the reason I’m staying far away. But is the movie really as bad as it appears to me? Could there be more to Roland Emmerich’s feature than just the visuals?
In this clip for the film, (most) of the trailer’s distractions are stripped away leaving the screenplay in the forefront. Unfortunately, the only thing making up for John Cusack’s overacting is the surprise cameo at the end.
(BTW - you can compare this version to the original one after the jump.)
